OVCA RoboticsThe goal of OVCA Robotics is to introduce students to advanced curriculum through project based experimentation. This is accomplished through STEM education as it relates to the challenges teams will solve while participating in the team environment. The challenges are a part of the "First Lego League", or FLL. Robotics teams are extracurricular and are sponsored by volunteers and grants have been provided to purchase the computer and robotic systems, along with all of the parts and pieces.

OVCA ROBOTICS IS PROUDLY SPONSORED BY QUALCOMMQualcomm has been at the center of technology for decades and is a San Diego icon. We are thankful to the grant provided by Qualcomm that supports much of our OVCA robotics program.

TEAMWORKTeams consist of up to 10 members between the ages of 9 and 15. Students who turn 15 after January 1st of the current year are eligible to participate.
Team work helps students learn how to function socially and emotionally as they work together on projects that will hone their critical thinking and reasoning skills. Each team member will play an integral part of the team, learning to collaborate and depend on one another as they seek success together. The feeling of accomplishment further solidifies the experience. |
STEMSTEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These four critical disciplines are framing the future of jobs and our economy. OVC/OVCA are working together to prepare our students to be successful in these fields as they live a life of purpose in Christ no matter their career path.
In the "First Lego League", students will learn by applying real world math and science concepts and confronting challenges faced by today's scientists while designing, building, programming and testing the team's robot. |
